How to Request Honors

The services of the Volleys For Veterans are made available for any honorably discharged U.S. Service Veteran at the request of the family.  Funeral Directors and Pastors throughout the Amarillo/Canyon, Texas area are made aware of the services we can and will provide.  American Flags to drape the casket or accompany the urn are procured by the Funeral Director with proof of service and discharge status.  This is most commonly the Service Member’s discharge papers; a DD Form 214 or equivalent.

All of the services are provided at no cost to the family (Honorariums are gratefully accepted). When Family members are in the process of making funeral arrangements for their loved one, they will be asked if the individual was a Veteran.  They may select the Honors that they would like to have at that time and the Pastor or Funeral Director will contact the Volleys For Veterans to make the arrangements.  However, if the family decides to add the Honors after the other arrangements have been made, they may contact one of the coordinators and every effort will be made to fulfill their request.   The list of coordinators and their contact information is available on the “Contact Us” page on this website.  Or you may click here to view that list.

Family members should be aware that in order to qualify for Veteran  status for these Honors the individual need only to have served in any capacity as a uniformed member of one of the U.S. Service branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard or any of the Service Reserves, and to have received an Honorable discharge.  He or she did not have to have served during wartime, or have been assigned in combat to be eligible for Full Military Honors at the funeral.
